Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

Do you suffer from a recurring injury?

Are you frustrated by the time it takes to rehabilitate from injury?

What if we could address and treat the cause of the problem?

The body has an amazing ability to cope with various types of stress whether physical, mental, emotional or chemical. Many people underestimate the negative impact that stress has on our body, and the toll it takes if it goes undetected and more importantly, untreated. When performing strenuous exercise or activity the spine, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons are placed under enormous physical stress. Research has shown that even tiny amounts of added pressure on a vertebra or joint can dramatically affect the way in which it functions. Altered spinal motion or tension is commonly referred to as a vertebral or pelvic misalignment or a ‘subluxation’.

A misalignment of the pelvis which often results in uneven leg length, can manifest as:

  • Calf injury or strain
  • Groin injury or strain
  • Hamstring injury or strain
  • Quadricep injury or strain

A misalignment of the mid to lower cervical vetebrae (C3-C6) can manifest as weakness of;

  • The muscles that control and protect the shoulder joint
  • The muscles that control and protect the elbow joint

The team at Highett Health and Wellness educate athletes and competitive sports people about how to rehabilitate quickly and prevent re-injury. The key is regular Remedial Massage, specific stretches and strengthening exercises, along with regular Chiropractic check-ups to assess the alignment of the affected area and the associated muscles and joints.

Our Chiropractic team work closely with patients on a regular basis to ensure that any skeletal misalignments are identified and corrected before they become symptomatic. Our Chiropractic team consults with the Beaumaris Soccer Club, Brighton District Cricket Club and Highett Football Club to assist their players with injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.

If you are a member of a local sporting team or club, interested in having our Chiropractic team consult with your members regarding injury assessment and prevention, please contact our practice to arrange regular visits from our Chiropractic team.

Through a combination of regular Chiropractic care and Remedial Massage, our patients experience natural and effective relief and rehabilitation from injury.
